04 · Two-sided · Venue ops

Venue management for a club that runs on people.

A two-sided engine for a stand-up venue — it captures a comic's interest to perform, lets the admin curate each night's lineup, and streamlines comic-to-venue comms over WhatsApp.

The elegant answer was to stop forcing comics into an app for everything — capture the structured stuff in the product, but let the talking happen where it already does: WhatsApp.

The WhatsApp journey

Comic-to-venue comms, automated.

Comics live on WhatsApp, so that's where the venue reaches them — availability nudges, 48-hour confirmations, day-of check-ins, and late-backout escalations. Routine updates stay in-app; the admin only gets a WhatsApp for exceptions. A hundred manual messages become one reliable flow.

Key decisions

Where to be strict, where to stay loose.

01

Board stays editable post-confirm

Real programming changes up to showtime, so reordering works even after confirmations — with a "notified" signal on top.

02

WhatsApp for comics, in-app for routine

Comics read WhatsApp; flooding the admin trains them to ignore it, so admins only get exceptions.

03

Attendance triggers payout

Tying money to one unambiguous action — did they perform? — gives every payout a clean audit trail.

Outcome

A whiteboard process, turned into software.
